Larkin,William Frederick M.D.


William Frederick Larkin,M.D.,age 85, passed away peacefully at home on August 3,2020. He
was born on December 2,1934 to Joseph P. Larkin and Pauline Stuart Larkin in Dallas,Texas.
He was valedictorian at Booker T. Washington High school in Dallas and received his BS
degree from Prairie View A&M University. He was a graduate of The University of Texas
Medical Branch Galveston,Texas in 1959. His General and Vascular Surgery Training took
place in San Diego County General Hospital and US Army Hospital in Fort Hood,Texas in the
Traumatic Surgery section.He was drafted into service for the Berlin Crisis.
He entered private practice in Dallas,Texas in 1965. He served on the teaching surgery staffs at
St Paul University Hospital, Baylor University Medical Center,and Parkland Hospital. He was a
founding member of Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation in Dallas,Texas and had the honor of an
award established in his name in 1985.
He was a member of the Texas Medical Association,Dallas County Medical Society and C.V.
Roman Medical Society.
He was active in mentoring many medical students and surgery residents. He was a team
physician for the Bishop College Football team. He was active in community affairs,an avid
racquetball player,sports fan and had many interests from sports cars to collecting antiques.
He is preceded in death by his parents,his brothers Joseph P. Larkin Jr, George E. Larkin and
his sister Paula Brown. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Maggie L. Larkin;his daughter Dr.
Sharon L. Larkin,his sons William F. Larkin II (Charlotte) and Alan F. Larkin(Riva);grandchildren
Caleb, Lauren,Christopher,Alanna and great grandchildren Nadia,Ian,Leo,Kaelie,Elijah as well
as many nieces and nephews.
