Obituary

Nancy Ann Wilborn Diggs was the second born to Albert and Charlie Mae Wilborn on July 27, 1944 in Dallas, Texas. Nancy accepted Christ as her savior and united with Munger Avenue Baptist Church at a very early age.

Nancy attended K.B. Polk Elementary School and Booker T. Washington High School. She was an early integrator of North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas, and received a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology in 1967. A lover of education, she went on to obtain a Masters in Elementary Education in 1977 from Texas Woman’s University. After graduation, she worked as a speech language pathologist for Dallas Independent School District. Afterward, she pursued her dream of traveling and seeing the world. Nancy had a career with Braniff International Airways for many years as a reservationist and flight attendant, which allowed her to travel the world. Then, she returned to education as an elementary teacher for many years Dallas Independent School District and retired in 2005.

She joined Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. a Business and Professional Women Sorority. Nancy was initiated into the Sorority in 1974, Psi Chapter in Dallas, Texas. Where she served on many committees, such as Dean of intake and Membership Services. And was a dedicated member throughout the years. Nancy loved to attend the sorority regional and national conventions, and the Annual Businesswomen’s Luncheon. Moreover, she was an active member of Munger Avenue Baptist Church, Inc., and was currently serving as the church secretary. She helped with youth and holiday programs for the church, and church gatherings.

On April 4th, 1987, Nancy married her love Bobby Diggs, Louisiana native and Southern University graduate. They enjoyed 34 years of marital bliss. She was a devoted wife, affectionately known as “honey bun”, and homemaker who loved spending quality time and traveling with her husband.

Over the years and in retirement, she owned her own antique store called the “Diggs Collection.” She was a woman of many talents and passions including Christmas decorating, hosting, traveling, gardening, antiquing, photography and shopping. Her family legacy was her annual beautiful Christmas party, where she gathered all the family together at her house to spread the Christmas cheer.

On January 28, 2021, she departed this world. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Albert Jimpson Wilborn, Sr. & Charlie Mae Wilborn and sister Phyllis Wilborn Patterson. Left to bereave her death but cherish her memories are her loving husband Bobby Diggs, best friend of 55 years, Carol Shaw, sister Madelyn Wilborn Hart, brother Albert “Jason” Wilborn Jr and sister-in-law Myrtle Peggy Wilborn. In addition to nieces and nephews- Hope Hart, Jason Eric Wilborn, Dustin Hart, Kevin Wilborn, Terence Wilborn, Brooke Hart Jones, Evan Patterson, Alyssa Patterson and a host of additional relatives and friends.
