Obituary of Brenda Gail " Washington

Brenda Gail Washington “Big Red” was born on December 26, 1960 to Radolph Johnson, Sr., Vietnam veteran, and Edith Faye Abrams in Dallas, Texas. She attended Paul L. Dunbar Elementary School, Fred F. Florence Middle School, and WW Samuel High School. Brenda accepted Christ as her Lord and Saviour at First Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas under Rev. D. P. Price. Brenda met and married Duriel Washington in 1978. To this union, one daughter, Fashion Johnson, was born in 1979. Brenda later joined Salem Institutional Baptist Church, where she served under Rev. J. W. Washington. Brenda was employed by the Fair Park, Joske’s, Nieman Marcus, Taylor Publishing Company, and several employment agencies. She was employed by Two Podners BBQ for 5 years until she was diagnosed with brain cancer in September 2018. Brenda enjoyed dancing, listening to music, and playing cards and dominoes. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandson, her nieces, and nephews. She rededicated her life to Christ during her most recent hospital stay. She is preceeded in death by her father Radolph Johnson, Sr., of Ben Wheeler, Texas, brother Cornelius Johnson, of Tyler, Texas, and brother Millard Johnson of Dallas, Texas. She leaves to honor her precious memories: Daughter, Fashion Johnson, grandson Joshua Pate-Johnson, and granddog, Romo. Mother, Edith Faye Johnson Sisters: Debbra Johnson, Francine (Ernest, Sr.) Williams, and Valerie Johnson. Brother Radolph (Erica) Johnson, Jr, and step-sister Sharon (Carl) Robinson, all of Dallas, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
