Thomas Earl Campbell Sr was born February 16, 1942, in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Lee Walter and Alvina Price Campbell. He was the fourth of five siblings, three which preceded him in death.
He received his formal education in the Dallas Independent School District, graduating from Booker T. Washington High School. After graduation, he loved to travel with various owners of race horses exploring a love for horses. He later became an avid Angler. His first sports love was fishing.
He met and married his lovely wife of 28 years Vickie Toria Martin Campbell on August 9, 1997.
He worked for Continental Airlines and retired after many years of service, God blessed him to live out one of his dreams, to live on the lake here he could fish to his hearts content.
In August 1993, under the leadership of Thomas Campbell Sr. (Founder & Club’s 1st President), Quad State Bass Club was organized to promote competitive bass fishing, sportsmanship, and fellowship among African American Anglers. Within five years after organizing, QSBC expanded and became a consortium of twenty-three (23) amateur bass clubs. The club is still going strong after thirty-two (32) years.
He was a dedicated member of New Life Baptist Church of Quitman, Texas. He served in the Men’s Ministry and Male Chorus. In June of 2025, he was honored as the oldest living member of the church.
He leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Vickie Toria Martin Campbell, sister , Millie Wilson of Dallas, Texas, sons, Thomas Earl Campbell Jr (Demetrus) of Dallas, Texas, Anthony Campbell, of Petersburg, VA, LaVelle Campbell (Lisa) , and Kevin Campbell both of St. Thomas, VI, LaVell Campbell of Hot Springs, Ark, James Campbell of Pine Bluff, Ark, Luther Mitchell of Lancaster, CA (preceded him in death), daughters, Karen Campbell of Hot Springs, Ark, Tameika Crawford of Houston, Texas and Ashley Mitchell , Lancaster ,CA, many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
