Life Reflections
R. L. “Bubba” Rosier was born September 17,1927 in Vernon, Texas to the late Lonnie “Buck” Rosier and the late Iler B. Rosier. He was the third of four children. He attended Dallas Public schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1944. He continued his education at Tuskegee. He enlisted in the US Army and changed his name to Robert Lawrence Rosier to meet military and government record-keeping. He served in the US Army from March 12,1946 to June 23,1949 (WWII) and the Army Standby Reserve from July 6,1949 to March 15,1953 and received honorable discharges for faithful service. On December 29,1950 he married Alma Louise Rosier. To this union three children were born, Kathye Sue Rosier, Robert Lawrence Rosier Jr. and Donna Kay Cotton.
He enjoyed watching political shows and sports on television, especially golf, basketball football and MSNBC. His favorite food was chicken. He would often say “Bird that’s the word!”. He enjoyed listening to the blues. He enjoyed a well-made spirit drink.
Robert (Red) Rosier began working at Brookhollow Golf Club as a caddy in 1938 at the age of 11. He caddied for most of the past club presidents. In 1950, he began working with the golf course maintenance staff. In 1962 he became the night waterman, which he held for 20 years until the club installed an automatic irrigation system. He retired from Brook Hollow Golf Club in 1992. After a short retirement, he un-retired and returned to Brook Hollow Golf Club. He devoted over 63 years and received an “Employee of the Month” recognition in April 2001. He finally retired again on March 4, 2005. He was a hard worker and during his tenure at the club he would often work a seasonal job during Christmas to cover extra expenses for the holiday.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathye Sue Rosier and Donna Kay Cotton (James); his son, Robert Lawrence Rosier Jr.; three granddaughters: Teianeshia DonTrale Rosier, Danishuia Lynn Adams, and Takeshia Wright; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Louise Rosier in 2016; parents, Johnnie and Iler B. Rosier; brother, Woodroe Rosier; sister, Romy Nell McWiliams; sister, Gessie Mae Richardson.
