Irene Smith Obituary

Life Reflections

Irene Smith, born April 19, 1959, to the loving parentage of Mr. Iree Smith and Mrs. Odessa Gray Barree, completed her earthly journey and peacefully entered eternal rest. Irene was raised in Corsicana, Texas, where she received her formal education in the Corsicana School District.

At an early age, she gave her life to Christ, beginning a lifelong walk of faith that shaped her character, her service, and her love for others. She faithfully served as a devoted member of both Rock Hill Baptist Church and Carroll Chapel Church of Richland, Texas. Her commitment to God, her family, and her community was evident in every season of her life.

Irene dedicated much of her professional life to the medical field, where she served compassionately at Twilight Home Nursing & Rehab Center of Corsicana Texas. Her gentle spirit, patience, and strong work ethic made a lasting impact on the residents and coworkers she encountered. She continued her service there until entering early retirement.

In her lifetime, Irene met and married the love of her life, Donald R. Mullin. The two shared over 40 years of marriage, and unwavering affection. Though they later divorced, their bond remained unbroken still very much in love and lifelong companions until his passing. Their story was one of loyalty, understanding, and a rare kind of love that stood the test of time.

Irene is preceded in death by her beloved parents, her cherished husband and companion Donald, and several siblings who welcomed her home with open arms.

Left to honor and cherish her memory are her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family, and many dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, humor, strength, and unwavering love.

Among those who held a special place in her heart were her nephews who she often referred to as her “SONS” Ernest “Fro” WalkerMarcus “Head” McQueen, and Vertric “Ticc” McQueen. She loved them deeply, prayed over them constantly, and carried great pride in the men they became.

As the last of her siblings to transition from this life, Irene leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.
