Danny T Holt Obituary

Danny Tyrone Holt, born on July 9, 1954, in Gladewater, Texas, was the youngest of three children and the beloved “baby boy” of Lucille and John Holt. Spoiled with affection and care, Danny grew up surrounded by a close-knit family whose parents worked tirelessly to provide not only for his needs, but also for his dreams.

Danny received his formal education in the Gladewater Independent School District and graduated from Gladewater High School. A gifted and well-rounded athlete, he excelled in both basketball and football. His dedication and talent earned him the honor of Most Versatile Athlete of the Year. Wearing jersey number 82, Danny’s outstanding performance on the football field led to a scholarship to Prairie View A&M University, a testament to his athletic ability and determination.

Because of his love for the game and his success in football, Danny later had the honor of coaching his son, Eric Holt, in the Pop Warner Football League. He poured his time, knowledge, and heart into Eric during those years, creating a bond that went far beyond the field. Those moments remain a cherished chapter of his life and a true reflection of his devotion as a father.

Danny also found success in his professional life while working at Sherwin Williams and Bowen. He was well liked by his coworkers, known for his winning personality, strong work ethic, and positive spirit. Above all else, Danny treasured time spent with his family. He deeply enjoyed family gatherings and moments together, creating memories that will forever be held close by those who loved him.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory his sons, Eric Holt and Travisal Dumas, and his daughter, Dana Hudson-Smith. He is also survived by his beloved grandsons: Eric Tyrone Harris, Davin T. Harris, Josiah P. Holt, Jonah P. Holt, Rakayla Smith, and Rodney Smith as well as his cherished great-grandson, Eric Tyrone Harris Jr.  Danny is further remembered with love by his nieces and nephew: Sonji Colbert (Smitty), Judy London-Young (Elgin), Gwen Battles, Genesis Watkins, and Jaden-Jhames Young.  He is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Sanford Crayton, Leslie Crayton, Carol Carter, Johnny Crayton, Lonnie Crayton, Vivian Crayton, and Daphene Crayton.

In the serene embrace of eternity, Danny Tyrone Holt is reunited with his dearly departed parents, Lucille Holt and John Holt; his sisters, Eloise London and Mozelle Battles; and his beloved wife, Patricia Kaye Holt. His departure from this world is softened by the knowledge that he now rests in peace and joy among those he loved so deeply. His spirit will forever remain etched in the hearts and memories of his loved ones.
