Brenda Joyce Larkin Berkins, age 84, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026, in Dallas, Texas surrounded by family.

Brenda was a lifelong resident of Dallas and a woman whose life was marked by grace, devotion, and a deep love for family. She was educated in Dallas, attending Immaculate Heart of Mary for elementary school, St. Peter’s Catholic School for high school, and later continuing her studies at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

Brenda was a dedicated professional Librarian who worked faithfully throughout her life. She spent 10+ years at Bishop College, 6 years with Texas Data Systems, and later served with excellence at the University of Texas Southwestern Library, where she was known for her reliability, integrity, and warm spirit. She retired from the University of Texas Southwestern in 2002.

A woman of strong faith, Brenda was a devoted member of Friendship West Baptist Church for more than 27 years, where she found community, fellowship, and spiritual fulfillment.

Brenda had a joyful spirit and a curious mind. She loved traveling, reading, bird-watching, and spending time tending to her garden. She also enjoyed gathering with family and friends for lively games of Spades and Scrabble, moments that often turned into cherished memories filled with laughter.

She was known for her honesty, kind heart, and pleasing disposition. Brenda had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Her warmth and steady presence brought comfort to all who knew her.

Brend was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Flemon Larkin and Ellen Ruth Larkin; her beloved daughter, Tanya Berkins; and her cherished granddaughter, Tifney Berkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Sonya Rose(Gregory) and David Berkins(Takeila); her grandchildren, Alexandria Rose and Stormey Berkins; her great-grandchildren, Tailor Simpson, Jordan Simpson, and Louis Simpson; as well as Don Berkins, along with many other extended family members, church family, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Brenda’s legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
