Mildred Ray Salter, age 97 of Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on April 22nd, 2026. She was born on August 7, 1928, in Tipson, Texas, to Felix and Mobile Salter, arriving into the world alongside her twin sister and lifelong companion, Eunice Faye. From the very beginning, Mildred’s life was centered around love, connection, and family.


Better known as “Mama Ray” to those who loved her, she had a special way of making everyone feel seen, loved, and valued, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. Whether you were family by blood or simply by heart, Mildred welcomed you with open arms. She loved Jesus deeply, and that love showed in the way she lived—through her kindness, her generosity, and her unwavering care for others.


Mildred was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and her greatest joy came from the people around her. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a gift, and her spirit, something that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.


She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael Lynn and Robert Ray, whom she loved alongside Robert James Hooper, and her siblings Belva Lee, James, Betty, Evelyn, and Felix Jr.


She is survived by her siblings, Lovis and Eunice Faye of Dallas, Texas, along with generations of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. Mildred leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and compassion. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
