Obituary of Johnie H Bynum

Johnie Horace Bynum was born October 24, 1926 in Emerson Arkansas near the border of Louisiana to the parents of Cherry and John Henry Bynum. He was the third child of eight children. He confessed his love of Christ at an early age. He graduated from Walker High School (1945) and immediately joined the US Navy. Following his tour of duty he enrolled in Arkansas A&M where he met and married Susie Smart in 1949. To this marriage three children were born. He moved to Dallas in 1950 where he was employed by Ling-Temco-Volt which is currently Raytheon and remained there for 45 years. He retired in 1995 as a Maintenance Foreman. During his time with Raytheon he owned a successful lawn service which he continued well into retirement. In 2008 he met Elmyra M. Harlan and they were and married in 2009. His passions in life were travelling (favorite places; Alaska, California, Hawaii) and studying the bible in preparation for Sunday School. His faith walk was nurtured by; Laymen Chapel CME, Christian Chapel CME, Porter’s Temple CME all in Dallas, TX. He is preceded in death by her mother and father Cherry and John Henry Bynum, granddaughter Stephanie Dawn Smith, brothers; Frank, William and Eddie Bynum(Dorothy), sisters; Abitha Doss (Curtis), Virginia Cooks, Willie Mae Kimmons (Murry Sr.), Naliza Burton (Joe Gene). He is survived to cherish his memories wife Elmyra Bynum, son Johnie C. Bynum, daughters; Deborah Smith (Archie), Wanda Bynum-Wilson, special step-daughter Wanda Harlan, grandson Shun Aric Smith (Allison), brother-in-law Cecil Cook, and a host of other relatives and friends.
