Obituary of Stephen Edward Watts II

Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Obituary of Stephen Watts II Stephen Edward Watts, II was born July 21, 1959, in Dallas, TX. He was the third child of Nathaniel T. Watts, Jr., M.D., and Daisy Creighton Watts. After many years of battling kidney disease and other medical issues, Stephen passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. Stephen is finally at peace. Stephen was one of seven siblings and he grew up surrounded by many family members and friends. Many of us remember Stephen being “in charge” of his younger brothers when it was time to organize them for family outings. He attended St. Anthony Catholic School, where the nuns knew him well. Stephen graduated from Jesuit Preparatory High School in Dallas, where he played trumpet in the Jesuit Marching Band, and attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. Stephen had an entrepreneurial spirit and pursued various endeavors, before joining the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked for many years. Stephen also helped at his father’s medical office as his father’s “right-hand man” assisting with administrative matters. In 1985, Stephen married Caroline Horton, and the union was blessed with two children, Christina and Edward, of whom Stephen was very proud. Throughout his life, Stephen was blessed with a strong support system of family and friends. Many of his childhood friends have remained by his side, through the good times and not-so-good times, as have his children, loving parents and siblings. Stephen could try the patience of many a friend, relative and healthcare worker; yet, he was never unloved, uncared for or forgotten. Loving memories of Stephen include spending time with his family, children and grandchild, looking “sharp,” his enthusiasm for music, cars and jewelry, organizing “fight night” viewing parties and the Super Bowl “betting pot,” and never missing his mother’s cooking. Stephen was preceded in death by his father, N.T. Watts, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Christina Ruth Watts; son, Edward Fritzgerald Watts and grandson, Brennan Hicks; his beloved mother, Daisy Watts; siblings, Gwendolyn Satterthwaite (Aaron), Nathaniel T. Watts, III, Michael C. Watts (Maria), David C. Watts (Marilyn), Joseph F. Watts (Jenelle) and Paul G. Watts; his uncle, Stephen Edward Watts, M.D., aunts, Louise Taylor (Charles), Thelma Simpkins, and Gwendolyn Grass (Augustus); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. “Love begins by taking care of the closest ones- the ones at home” Saint Teresa of Calcutta
