Please share a memory of Jasper to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jasper Edward Baccus Jr. was born in Dallas, Texas on September 20, 1928. He was the second of 8 children, born to Jasper Edward Baccus, Sr. and Edna Nixon Baccus. He departed on January 15, 2018. Jasper Baccus, Jr. truly understood obeying the gospel to become a Christian and he made that commitment at an early age. He was baptized at Lawrence & Marder Church of Christ, where he was the song leader and faithful member. He later attended Cedar Crest and Dallas West Church of Christ. At the time of his demise, he was a faithful member of Central Pointe’ Church of Christ, under the leadership of Sr. Minister Dr. Rodney Dulin. Jasper attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and Lincoln High School. He united in matrimony with Dorothy, Mary and Billie; all who preceded him in death. Within those unions 16 children were born. An avid golfer, Jasper was the entrepreneur’s businessman. He started and grew Baccus Cleaners into one of the premiere dry cleaners establishments in Dallas, with the anchor store located in the heart of Sunny South Dallas on Martin Luther King Blvd where it intersects with Malcolm X Blvd. Jasper loved life and people. He wanted to see his people and community thriving and he did all he could toward that end. A long time member and former chairman of the board of the Pylon Salesmanship Club, Jasper always had a smile, word of wisdom or kind word. Jasper leaves to cherish his memory, his children: Herman Baccus, Carolyn Baccus Taylor, Kathryn Baccus Scroggins (Ray), Don Baccus (Pat), Beverly Baccus Scroggins (Harold), Debra Moore, Michael Baccus, Paul Baccus Sr., Glenn Baccus Sr. (Detrick), Marilyn Baccus, Gayla Baccus Daniels (Mike), Carlton Baccus Wesson (Laurie), Jasper Baccus III, Simona Beltran, Latoya Baccus and Brandon Baccus; ex-wife Sandra Baccus Lane and Step Daughter Calice White; sib lings Brooksie Baccus Rogers (Arthur), and Annie Baccus Bell (Joe) of Dallas, TX, Dr. Carl Baccus and Bobbie Baccus Lanham of Los Angeles, CA; 49 grandchildren, 69 great grand children; 8 great great children; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who have become family over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Baccus Sr. and sisters Doris Baccus McMath, Dr. Ruth Baccus Murray and Fannie Baccus.
