Obituary of Thomas Charles Buffin

Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Thomas Charles Buffin was born on May 13, 1932, to the late James Arthur and Sammie Lee Buffin in Jonesville, Texas. On November 8, 2020, our merciful Master sent an angel for our beloved family member.

Thomas was a well-known fixture in the Elm Thicket neighborhood for many years, with his spiritual roots at Bethany Baptist Church, where he was in the Boy Scout troop. He received his education in the Dallas Public Schools: starting at York Elementary (now K.B. Polk) and completing high school at Booker T. Washington. Afterwards, he served in the U.S. Armed Forces in Korea, earning 3 service medals and 2 bronze service stars. Upon returning to Dallas in 1954, he began working in the cement contracting business with his father, where he continued for many years.

Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers: James, Rudolph and Robert; and sons: Carlos Ray and Thomas Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Barbara; daughter, Gina; son, Marc (Nellie); stepson, John; grandchildren: Kirsten, Zachary, Miles, Tanesha, Misty, Angela and Tiffany; great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Aushané, Jaylin, Bryson, Michael, Lil Zach, Gregory and Kiya; nieces: Karen, Annala and Carmen; and a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends. All who knew Thomas Sr. will forever miss him.
