Obituary of Barbara Ann Hendrix
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Ann Hendrix, 71, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family at her home on Monday, January 6, 2019.
This loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and First Lady was born on August 18, 1948, to the parents of the late K.L. Stevenson (2004) and Miss Narvell Knight (1972). Barbara was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She received her education from the Dallas Independent School District.
At the tender age of 15, Barbara married the one and only love of her life, Pastor Willie Hendrix (18), on January 5, 1964. Shortly after their union, the two lovebirds began to grow their family rapidly. From this union, God blessed them with nine beautiful children.
In 1968 Barbara and Willie accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. In June of 1970, the couple established their ministry, Jesus Pentecostal House of Prayer, where Willie served as the Senior Pastor until he passed away on July 30, 2015.
First Lady Barbara was a quiet, gentle spirit who was known for praying for and encouraging others. This ferocious prayer warrior fervently lead prayer service every Thursday night at her church. Her love for the Lord was no secret. She was a devote Christian who stressed the importance of faith and prayer to her children.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Norva Denise Hendrix, on December 16, 1989. She leaves her memories to be cherished by her eight children: Ingrid Hendrix, Susanne Butler (Henry), Steven Hendrix (Kimberly), Michael Hendrix, Renee’ White, LaTonya Thornton, Cedric Hendrix, and Javonda Allen (William).
She also leaves behind three grandsons that she raised as her own: Kelvis Hendrix (Yolandra), Larry Hendrix (Jawana) and DeMarkus Thompson; a total of sixteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
As we celebrate the life and legacy of this beautiful soul, we would like to leave you with words Barbara often used to encourage others; “It’s gone be alright.”
