Obituary of Eva Mae Williams

Please share a memory of Eva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Eva Mae Williams, age 84, of Dallas, Texas, departed this world to join her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2021. She was the second of two girls born to the late Floyd Adams and Fairy Jane Adams (Perry)  on April 14, 1936 in Fulton, Arkansas. In addition to her parents, her sister Norma Jean (Adams) Lofton preceded her in death.

Eva Mae moved with her mother to Dallas, Texas as a child. She received her early education in the Dallas school system. Her exceptional work ethic and business acumen advanced her to a managerial position with the federal government in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) where she retired in November of 1995.

On September 21,1964, Eva married her “knight in shining armor”, Joe Andrew Williams Sr, and they had two children, daughter Pamela Evette and son, Joe Andrew Jr.

Eva Mae accepted Christ at an early age. She was a dedicated member of Munger Avenue Baptist Church where she served faithfully for many years. She eventually moved her membership to Saint Augustine’s Episcopal Church where she continued to worship until her health declined.

Eva Mae was devoted to family, church, and community. Upon retirement, when not shopping for the grand kids, attending church, or planning family events, she often volunteered her services to help with community events and local charities.  She was passionate about family gatherings on holidays.    She loved to prepare meals and engage with family in competitive card tournaments and board games. Annual family vacations were her favorite events as she prepared food, planned itineraries and engaged in activities with her grandchildren.

Family and friends will cherish the memories with their beloved Eva Mae who departed this earth on January 29, 2021. Joe Williams Sr., husband of fifty-five years, departed this life the following day. There is little doubt that Eva gently signaled her familiar words “Come on Joe. Come go with me”. As was his custom, he caringly and graciously obliged his loving wife. The family finds comfort knowing their kindred spirits parted together.

Eva leaves to mourn her daughter, Pamela Evette (Tony) and son, Joe Andrew Jr., granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Lewis  and Meghan Lindsey Lewis, grandsons Joe Andrew Williams, III (Reasheon Janee) and Jay Adams Williams (Emily), and three great-grandchildren Rico, Amiyah, and Leia Williams.
