Obituary of Helen Marie Hogg

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

HELEN MARIE HOGG was born in Dallas, Texas, on February 25, 1970. She is one of five siblings. She attended Franklin D. Roosevelt High School, and at an early age, she decided to give her life to Christ. She was always dedicated in putting her family first and loving them unconditionally.

Helen served as a cook and housekeeper for over three decades for various establishments and businesses until 2005.

Helen was a lady of many hats, who had a passion for serving others, whether it was baking a cake, preparing a meal, offering words of encouragement, lending a listening ear in time of need, or just being present with her beautiful smile and warm hugs – all the qualities in her reflected the image of Christ – a faithful servant.

Months before her passing, she joined fellowship with her current church family, the House of the Lord Ministry and Outreach, where she served in numerous positions, such as the Announcement Clerk and Sunday School Secretary.

Helen departed this life to the Heavenly Father’s embrace on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She was preceded in death by her father, Willie Jewel Hogg, her brother, Willie Fitzgerald Hogg, and her sister, Polly Rena Johnson. Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Lurlene Johnson Hogg; her sisters, Adria Hogg and Rosa Hogg; her cousin/sister, Jeanetta Harris-Mitchell (James); her nieces, Nicole Johnson and Brianna Hogg; her God-nieces, Deborah Drayton, Nikki Drayton, April Drayton, Jessica Cook, Shakena Cook, and Latrisha (Christina) Airy; her nephews, Larry Johnson (Kenisha), Desmond Hogg, and Joshua Hogg; her great-niece, Kahlen Johnson; her great-nephew, J’Tyviea Johnson; her best friends/sisters, Connie Drayton, Carolyn Cook, Arletha Moore-Kazee and Hortense Willard; and a host of other relatives and friends.
