Obituary of Lizzie Leffall

Mrs. Lizzie Cooper Leffall was born on December 20, 1924, in Deberry, TX to the parentage of the late Johnny Cooper and Cora Jernigan Cooper.  She grew up and attended school in Deberry. At an early age, she was a member of the Elysian Field CME Church, and later joined Evergreen Baptist Church. 

On September 23, 1942, Lizzie was married to the late Frank Leffall, Jr. of Marshall TX.  To this union, four girls were born: Mary Frances Johnson (deceased), Merline Leffall (deceased), Carol Colbert, and Delores Gee (Charles).

She resided in Dallas, TX with her loving family and joined New Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, and later, Community Baptist Church.

Lizzie passed away quietly and peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2021.

Lizzie was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Leffall; two children, Mary Frances Johnson and Merline Leffall; 5 sisters, 3 brothers, one grandchild, and one great-grandchild.

Lizzie’s memories will be shared by two children, Carol Colbert and Delores Gee (Charles), two brothers, Clydell Cooper of Lubbock, TX and Joseph Cooper of Deberry, TX, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
