GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO JESSIE COX, JR.  FOR 81 YEARS HE HAS

WATCHED OVER YOU, EVEN THROUGH ILLNESS, GOD’S BLESSINGS

UPON YOU ARE NOTEWORTHY!!!     AMEN

 

JESSIE COX, JR. WAS BORN FEBRUARY 12, 1940….  HIS  BEGINNING .  ON DECEMBER 27TH 2021,

  YOUR TRANSFORMATION OCCURRED ….YOUR DESTINATION.   BETWEEN THESE DATES, JESSIE’S

 LIFE JOURNEY WAS VARIED, EXCITING AND COLORFUL.

   

 JESSIE IS THE SECOND CHILD OF FIVE, BORNED TO THE PARENTAGE OF JESSIE COX, SR,

AND ANGIE WILLIAMS COX.  GROWING-UP IN THE HOUSEHOLD OF A STRONG GOD-SERVING

MOTHER AND RELIGIOUS ACCOLADES FROM OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, JESSIE WAS INTRODUCED

TO CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP AT AN EARLY AGE.  THE IMPACT OF THESE VALUES WAS SO STRONG,

THAT HE EMULATED PREACHERS THAT HE ADMIRED.  IN FACT, HE WAS GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY

TO DELIVERY IN HIS OWN “INNOCENT CHILD-LIKE” LOVE OF GOD.  HIS CHRISTIAN JOURNEY BEGIN

AT WHEATLY CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST.  IN 1994, HE JOINED PILGRIM REST MISSIONARY BAPTIST

CHURCH, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DR. C.W.WALLACE.  HE WAS VERY ACTIVE IN THE CHURCH

UNTIL HIS HEALTH BECAME A FACTOR.  BEING A MEMBER OF USHER BOARD #1 AND A

BROTHERHOOD MAN WAS WHAT HE ENJOYED THE MOST.

 

JESSIE RECEIVED HIS EDUCATION FROM SEVERAL DISD SCHOOLS, NAMELY, PHYLISS WHEATLY

ELEMENTARY AND JAMES MADISON HIGH SCHOOL.  AT MADISON, HIS ATHLETIC  ABILITIES BECAME

EVIDENT, RESULTING IN HIM RECEIVING THE “MOST IMPROVED ATHLETIC AWARD” AND IN HIS

SENIOR YEAR, HE WAS NAMED “MOST HANDSOME.”  AFTER GRADUATION, HE ATTENDED WILEY

COLLEGE FOR A BRIEF TIME.

 

JESSIE’S EMPLOYMENT AFFILATIONS PRODUCED SOME VERY PRESTIGEOUS POSITIONS, ATHLETIC

TRAINER FOR THE ORIGINAL DALLAS TEXAN FOOTBALL TEAM,  MANAGER FOR SKILLERN’S DRUG

STORE AND THE OWNER/ MANAGER OF  THE VERY SUCCESSFUL, TOTAL EXPERIENCE VALET SERVICE.

 

JESSIE’S PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES WAS BEING A VERY LOYAL FRIEND.  IF YOU KNEW HIM, YOU KNOW

HOW GENEROUS HE WAS.  THERE WAS NOTHING HE WOULDN’T SHARE OF ASSIST IF HE WAS AWARE

OF THE NEED.  HIS PERSONAL APPEARANCE WAS IMPORTANT TO HIM ANDWAS OFTEN REFERRED AS

BEING WELL DRESSED.

 

IN 1962, JESSIE MARRIED HIS SOULMATE, WINIFRET J. JAMES.  MARRIED FOR 60 YEARS, BUT HAD

NO CHILDREN. HOWEVER, JESSIE WAS THE FATHER OF THE FOLLOWING CHILDREN; REGINAL AND

TEVIN ROBERSON, CRAIG COOKS AND KIMBERLY MONTGOMERY.

 

PRECEDING HIM IN DEATH WAS HIS PARENTS, JESSIE COX ,SR. AND ANGIE COX/BLACK, THREE

BROTHERS: LEROY, BOBBIE RAY, AND CHARLES COX.

HIS SURVIVORS ARE: WINIFRET COX, WIFE, BEVERLY (WILBER) WILLIAMS, SISTER, 3 SONS:

REGINALD (LIZ) ROBERSON, TEVIN ROBERSON AND CRAIG ( LORI) COOKS AND ONE DAUGHTER,

KIMBERLY MONTGOMERY. GRAND CHILDREN  PLUS GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AS WELL.
