Obituary of Loel Booker
Loel Lonell Booker passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 31, 2017, at Harbor Hospice in Dallas, TX. He was born in Dallas on September 26, 1935, to Bennie “Lucille” and Willie Lee Booker, the third of seven children. He grew up in South Dallas and attended Lincoln High School. After he graduated high school in 1955, he made his way to Washington DC, to attend Howard University. Uncle Sam called him up, and he entered into the Army in 1958. After his service to his country, Booker went back to work at the US Postal Service. He worked there for almost 36 years until he retired in 1993. He married Ardell Fairfax in 1961 and enjoyed their marriage until her death in 2000.
While attending the Lincoln High School Reunion in Dallas, Lonell connected with his classmate Irma Frank. They were married in 2002 and they happily resettled in Dallas for the past 15 years until he went to be with the Lord.
He became a member of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in January 24, 2006, serving in the Parking Lot Ministry. He enjoyed watching and playing golf as much as possible. During football season, he could always be found watching his beloved Washington Redskins. He loved the times he spent with his family and friends.
Lonell was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Lurlene Anderson, Marion Louise (Harold) Wilson, his grandson, Stanley Marsh II and his granddaughter Chelsea Frank. He is remembered with love by his children, Lynell Booker-Marsh, Cedric Frank, Stefanie Booker Atchison, Thomas Frank, Steven (Toni) Booker and Leslie (Marvin) Middleton, his sister Betty Page, his brothers Richard Booker, Paul Wayne (Gloria) Childs, James (Yvonne) Childs, his brother-in-law Major Anderson II, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nephews, nieces, blended family, classmates and friends.
