Obituary of Anquanette Nicole Powell

Anquanette Nicole Powell was born to the union of Charles Edwin Powell and Linda Hudson Powell on September 3, 1970. Anquanette would be forever known by those who loved her as Nicole. Nicole embraced the challenges she was born with and courageously used those challenges as motivation to live beyond her physical boundaries and pursue her life goals. Nicole was selected to be an Easter Seals Child Spokesperson under president Jimmy Carter. Nicole also became a patient ambassador for the Scottish Rite Hospital of Dallas, Texas while receiving medical care and assistance there throughout her lifetime. She participed in the Special Olympics. Nicole was also a champion and advocate for the rights of the disabled and a beneficiary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Nicole graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School in 1989, and continued to matriculate at The Phillips School of Business, where she obtained her Associates Degree in Computer Science in 1993. Professionally, Nicole held administrative positions at Trinity Park Church of Christ as well as at various locations in the public sector. In addition, Nicole launched several online import businesses and wrote Christian literature until her health barred her from continuing. Nicole was a “fur mother” of her beloved, Sheba for 15 years until Sheba passed on September 9, 2019. Most significant for Nicole was her relationships with her nieces and nephews, siblings, mother and father, family and her faith. She continued as a contributing member of the Cedar Crest Church of Christ until her death. In her passing, Nicole leaves to mourn her mother and father, her sister, two brothers, two nieces, one nephew, two aunts, one uncle, numerous cousins and host of other close family members and friends.
