Norris Evan Bruce

 

Norris Evan Bruce was born on May 14, 1933 in Manderville, Arkansas and lived most of his early years in Hughes Springs, Texas. As a very young man he developed a stellar work ethic which he kept throughout his life. He proudly served in the United States Armed Forces during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1961.

 

In 1957, he met and married the love of his life, Carlenta Bruce and they remained inseparable for over 65 years.  Norris retired from Dallas Independent School District where he steadfastly worked for 35 years as a Custodial Supervisor.  Norris enjoyed good music, watching sports, playing golf and dominoes with friends and family.

He was continually optimistic and He is loved and will be missed by many!

 

Norris was preceded in death by his father and mother, Willie and Fannie Royal Bruce, brothers Norman Bruce and Clinso Bruce; four sisters Iris Bruce Powell, Juanice Bruce Washington, Justine Bruce Royal and Doris Bruce Young. 

 

He is survived by his wife Carlenta Bruce, nephews Delwin Willams, M. D. and wife Joy Omega Williams; Darrel Bruce, Phillip Bruce, niece Wendy Whiteman and husband Gregory Whiteman; grand nephew Cash Whiteman; and a host of other beloved family and special friends.
