Obituary of Annie Mae Rivers

Our beloved Annie Mae Rivers was born on February 16, 1939 in Tennessee Colony Texas to parentage Rev. George and Reddie Bell Taylor.  After graduating from High School, she moved to Dallas Texas and worked at National Linen Service for several years. 

 

Annie Mae and her high school sweetheart Jerry Hill, together for over 25 years, had four children: Jerry, Gina, Gregory and Marlon Hill.  After leaving National Linen Service, Annie worked as a machine operator at Federal Envelope Company where she worked for 35 years until her retirement.

 

Annie married the late Rev. Marion Rivers in June 1973 and they remained united until his death in July 1999. They joined Pleasant Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev A. C. Toney and serviced faithfully on numerous committees. They later joined Peniel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev.  H. A. Robertson until his death and continued under the leadership of Rev. Richard Hawkins.  Annie held several positions at Peniel Baptist Church until she succumb to her health condition. Annie’s favorite hobby was cooking and baking, and she was famous for her cakes.  Annie was not only a mother to her children but, like a mother to the entire Lawrence Family, her next door neighbors for over 30 years and the Jones Family, Sheila, Junior and Gwynette, the children of her best friend, the great Alice Jones,  who introduced Annie to her late husband.    

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Marion Rivers, two children Jerry Hill, and Marlon Hill; three brothers; James Lee Taylor, Ocie B. Robinson and Joseph Taylor and two sisters; Lavern Taylor and Alice Mathis.  Annie leaves to cherish her precious memories two children; Gina Hill of Lancaster, TX and Gregory Hill (wife Debra ) of Desoto, TX one sister; Martha Cooper- Street of Dallas, TX;  three sister in laws,  Beverly Johnson -Taylor of Dallas,TX Vivian Rivers of Patterson, GA and Cynthia Ann Alexander of Austin, TX. She also leaves four grandchildren; Gregory Denardray Hill, Jarrod Hill, Dontae Hill and Natasha Banks and one great- grandchild Dontae Ali Hill, Jr. and a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and special close friends Lizzie Jones, Faye Robertson and Brenda Boyce.
