Mae Pearl Webber

February 13, 1926 – August 12, 2023

Mae Pearl Webber was born on February 13, 1926, in Madisonville, Texas, to the late Hortense Brooks and Fred Manning.  She peacefully entered eternal rest on August 12, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Mae Pearl accepted Christ at an early age.  She joined Greater New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in 1954, where she faithfully served in many ministries, such as the Usher Board, and Treasurer of the Adult Women’s Sunday School Class.

Mae Pearl was a proud graduate of Madisonville Colored High School, class of 1944.  She later moved to Dallas and married Junior Frank Webber in 1948, and to this union, Gretchen Webber was born.  After 42 beautiful years of marriage, Junior Frank Webber preceded Mae Pearl in death, in November 1990.

After graduating from Madisonville Colored High School, Mae Pearl’s career path led her to Dallas, where she became a server at The Mercantile National Bank.  From there, she retired after 31 years of faithful service.  After her retirement Mae Pearl became a caregiver for multiple families when in 2008, she assisted her daughter Gretchen, at her childcare center, Johnson’s House of Luv Learning Center.  There Mae Pearl helped to nurture and shape, many young minds.

Mae Pearl thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She loved attending church, working with the children, visiting casinos, and participating in water aerobics exercises.

Mae Pearl was preceded in death by her mother, the late Hortense Brooks, and her father the late Fred Manning.  Mae Pearl leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter Gretchen Webber-Johnson, and her late sisters and brother, Bernice Loville (Houston), Ella Louise Deere (Ft. Worth), Evelyn Pearl Washington (Ft. Worth), Roy Alvin Manning (Ft. Worth), and only surviving sister Marguerite Neal (Ft. Worth).  Her grandchildren, LeMont Johnson (Dallas), Xavier Johnson (Dallas), Peyton Johnson (Dallas), and 9 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
