April Rene Collins Obituary

April Rene Collins was born on April 1, 1963 to parents Alvin Collins Jr. and Norma Jean Carroll Collins. April was baptized at a young age at Cherry Valley Church of Christ.




Her love for sports started at Kennedy-Curry Jr. High. She graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School where she excelled in athletics, playing basketball and volleyball. She was recognized as a Blue Chip player in high school along with Spud Webb in 1981, and received a basketball scholarship from Wiley College in Marshall, TX.




April began her career at Gulf and went on to become one of the top managers at Chevron, where she received several awards.




She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. She also loved listening to gospel music and had a great sense of humor.




April went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, after a long battle with her health. She was a fighter until the end.




She was preceded in death by her father Alvin Collins Jr., mother Norma Jean Carroll Collins, and sisters LaRuth Collins and Brenda Collins.




April leaves to cherish her memories two sons Kendrick Wesley Collins (Royneka) and Avin Dean Collins. Grandchildren Morgan Collins, Jaylen Collins and Jamari Collins. Sisters Alva Collins, Jennifer Moore, and Jonnie Collins (Keith). Brother Alvin Collins III (Beatrice) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
