Wanda Loyce Godfrey was born on October 30, 1949 in Mexia, Texas to the parentage of Richard Norwood & Estella Griffin.


"When I was a child, I spake like a child . . ." I Cor. 13:11

Wanda received her formal education from the Worthamn School District. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized.


". . . but when I became a (wo)man, I put away childish things." I Cor. 13:11

Wanda was blessed to meet and marry Henry Gilbert Sr. Their union gave her the privilege of gaining three incredible daughters and a son: Mary, Ruby, Ann, and Henry Jr. Together, they welcomed their precious daughter Kristi Gilbert. Later, Wanda married Joe Godfrey and became a nurturing mother figure to Ester, and Trina Regna. She cherished the moments spent with her extended family, as these moments filled her with immense joy.

Wanda entered into her eternal resting place on December 21, 2023. She was preceded in death by her dad ~ Richard Norwood; mother ~ Estella Griffin; husband ~ Henry Gilbert Sr.; Sister ~ Myrtle Smith; Son ~ Reginal Norwood, Son in Love Henry Gilbert Jr.; and Grandson ~Tyrone Tutson Jr.


"I will not leave you comfortless . . ." John 14:18

Wanda may be gone from our sight but she will forever remain in the hearts of: Husband ~ Joe Godfrey; Daughter ~ Kristi (Brodrick) Gibson; Daughters in Love ~Mary (James) Powell, Ruby Nell, Ann Gilbert, Ester Jones, Trina Taylor, and Regina Taylor; Grandchildren ~ Dominic Gibson, Robert Tutson, Sonnie Johnson, Alexandria Cox, Davonna Cooks, Lucresha Tutson, to name a few; along with a host of loved Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Other Loved ones.
