Horace Ray Frye Sr. Obituary

Horace Ray Frye, Sr. departed this life peacefully on August 8, 2024, at the age of 79. A devoted husband, loving father and cherished grandfather. Horace personified grace, strength and an unchanging devotion to his family.


Horace was born June 8, 1945, the 4th child out of four born to Frank and Pauline Frye in Wills Point, Texas. Later the family moved to Terrell, Texas where he attended Terrell Public Schools and graduated from Burnett High School in 1964 and there, he made Terrell his home.


Horace served and was honorable discharged in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the local VFW. He was employed by the Safeway Company as a long-distance truck driver and later worked and retired from the City of Dallas – Water Management Department.


In 1979 Horace met Celestine Branch and married August 30, 1994, which added up to 45 years together. Within in that union there are a total of six children.


He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Pauline Frye; brothers: James Frye and Ernest Frye; sister: Minnie Pearl (Frye) Galbreath. His brother-in-law: Henry Earl Thompson.


He leaves to cherish in his memories: wife Celestine Branch Frye; children: Robert Branch, Jr., Rhonda Branch Yearby (Monroe), Latanya Branch, Loring Branch (Allycin), Jeanette Carr and Horace Frye, Jr. (Sharon). His In-Laws: Dorothy “Tootie” Thompson (Henry) and Liddie “Whinkie” Spencer (John) and a special nephew, Rodney D. Frye, 18 grandchildren 38 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.


Horace’s legacy of inherited devotion and unconditional love will continue to inspire and guide those whose lives he touch.
