Mrs. Opal Powell was born in Calvert, Texas on October 26, 1925 the 9th child to Riley & Velma Knight whom preceded her in death. She received her education in Calvert Texas. Opal was preceded in her heavenly journey by her 13 siblings; husband Jesse Powell, Jr.; 3 children Opal Jewel Hicks, Izora Powell and Darryl B. Powell.

She leaves to cherish in life 3 children Howard W. Powell; Johnnie Powell and Nathan Powell; grandchildren Kevin Powell; Detriah Powell; Roshaundra Powell, Brian Hicks; NeKeisha Powell; Ingra Sampson; Shana Powell; Rashad Powell; Emory Allen; Howard Wayne Jr. Powell; Brian Bolden; Diamond Edwards; Cylki Powell; Antwell Hollis; Eleanor Martin; Jasmine Harris; LaDarrah Winston; Rachael Dixon; Jennifer Powell; Kimberly Tucker- Graham 20 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 19 great, great grandchildren; 3 great, great, great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Mrs. Opal accepted Christ at an early age she united in matrimony to her childhood sweetheart “Buddy” Jesse Powell Jr. in 1946. She moved to Dallas, Texas to begin her family journey. Mrs. Powell worked diligently to obtain the love and respect of many people she met on her arduous journey. She was a God fearing woman saved, sanctified and baptized at a young age.

To Johnnie that special son who was tasked with seeing her through her last days; everyday our family owes our deepest gratitude and appreciation.

To the grandchildren, great grandchildren and adopted children born of another mother, we thank you all for sharing your lives with us.
