Greta Denise Baggett was born on September 1, 1959 in Dallas, Texas to Charles Etta and Percy D. Baggett. She attended Denbigh High School, located in Newport News, Virginia where she played on the girls' basketball team as a point guard. She graduated in 1977 at the age of 16.

She would go on to hold various jobs ranging from the Dallas Police Department to the United States Postal Service. Years down the line she was introduced to Bennie Mitchell to whom she married and from this union came one daughter.

Greta gave her life to the Lord in her later years.

She went to be with the Heavenly Father on December 14, 2024. Proceeding her in death are: her parents, Charles Etta and Percy Baggett, her older brother, Percy Baggett Jr., and her ex-husband, Bennie Mitchell.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her daughter, Portia Mitchell (Dominique Murphy), grandson, Dominique Murphy Jr., brother, Eric Baggett (DeVonna), nephew, Caleb Baggett, niece, Camille Baggett, one aunt, one uncle, a host of cousins and friends.
