Obituary of Edna Olivia Langley

Mrs. Edna Olivia Langley was born to the late Carter and Ruby Lee Garrett on the Sunday morning of June 1, 1946 in Birmingham, Alabama. Edna received her formative education at Our Lady of Fatima and Immaculate High School in Alabama. Edna confessed Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Otis J. Jackson at the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher. Edna finished high school in 1965 and moved to San Francisco, California. She then attended John Adams Community College and received her certificate in Home Care. She met and eventually married George Langley on August 3, 1973. They then moved to Dallas, Texas in September of 1994. Edna united with the East Gate Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H. D. Regan where she served as an usher. She was a happy person who thoroughly enjoyed life. She was a great cook and loved to prepare meals for family and friends. She joined the Order of Eastern stars, Queen of the South, she climbed the ladder, Amaranth, Heroines of Jericho, Daughters of Sphinx, Grand Nurse’s and the Rose of the Seven Seals. She also worked for and retired from Baylor Scott & White Hospital. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, George, her parents and two daughters, Adrienne Langley and Andrea Whitaker. She leaves to cherish her memory five children, Alesia, Angela, Larry, Mark and George, Jr. She also leaves a nephew, four nieces, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. In addition, she will be missed by a special cousin, Naomi Jackson, and special friends, Mrs. Johanna R. Palmer Brown and Mrs. Lottie House. There are many other family members and friends who will mourn because of her absence.
