Obituary of Alvalene Montgomery
Alvalene T. Montgomery was born in Austin, Texas on December 20, 1937, to Claude and Luvella Littlefield Thompson. Alvalene received her formal education in the Austin Public Schools, graduating from Anderson High School. She was courted by and married her sweetheart, William D. Montgomery July 10, 1957.
Alvalene and William enjoyed 58 years of marriage, producing four children. Alvalene’s enduring love for family, friends and of Christ, allowed her to example to others a full and impactful life. Her marriage was a true testament of God’s unconditional love for all to see. All that she participated in was driven by a spirit of excellence and she never settled for less.
Alvalene accepted Christ at an early age at Sweet Home Baptist Church, Austin, Texas. After moving to Dallas with her family, she united with the Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Thompson, currently under the pastorate of Pastor Alon Wilson. Alvalene was a very active and faithful member serving on the Deaconess Board, Usher board, choir and BTU until her health began to fail.
Alvalene was employed as a Front -End Assembler with Texas Instrument (TI), where she remained until retirement after 30 plus years of service.
Alvalene, loved reading, cooking, baking traveling and spending quality time with her family. Her life-time hobby, however, was bowling. She was an avid bowler. One of her most favorites was Steve Harvey’s FAMILY FUED. Those who were close to Alvalene were touched by her loving spirit and thoughtfulness
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, daughter Phaedra D. Montgomery, brother, Albert Thompson and grandson, Marlon Cozaine.
Alvalene transitioned from labor to reward on May 11, 2016. The celebration of her life and legacy continues with her beloved husband of 58 years William D. Montgomery, 4children, Betty Montgomery, Barry Montgomery, Greg Montgomery and Jacqueline Wilson, 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a wealth of extended family and friends.
