Obituary of Ocie Johnson Sr. cie Johnson was born on November 30, 1924, in Clarksville, Texas. He was the third child born to the parentage of Lenious and Mattie Johnson. His brother, Elbert; and sisters, Mabel and Clara preceded him in death. He attended public schools in Clarksville, Texas. Upon graduating from high school, he served in the United States Navy on the USS Sevier during World War II with honor. He attended the School of Mortuary Science and in December of 1948, he received his embalming license. Upon the completion of this milestone, Ocie was employed with Black and Clark Funeral Home where he managed and worked for over forty years. During this time, he trained many morticians under his tutelage. His work was known throughout the Dallas area and beyond. In the early forties, he made Dallas his permanent home and married his high school sweetheart, Ollie Mae Davis Johnson, who preceded him in death. To this union, four children were born: Cassandra Woods, Patricia Ealy, Linda Kay Johnson and Ocie Johnson, Jr. Ocie united with St. Paul United Methodist Church and was a faithful member for many years. He leaves to cherish his memories his three daughters: Cassandra Woods of Cedar Hill, Texas; Patricia (Clarence) Ealy of DeSoto, Texas, and Linda Kay Johnson of Dallas, Texas; one son, Ocie Johnson, Jr. of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren: Harold Woods of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Cecil (Jamie) Woods of Midlothian, Texas, and Ken’Drea Mayes of Dallas, Texas; four great-granddaughters: Philisity Johnson, Aston Woods, Peyton Woods, and Avery Woods; two great-grandsons: Emerson Woods and Evan Woods; one sister-in-law, Thelma Johnson of Wichita Fallas, Texas; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved friends.
