Obituary of Darlene Bailey
On July 9, 1959 a beautiful bouncing baby girl was born to the parents of Mr. Howard and Josephine Bailey in Waco, Texas. Darlene accepted Christ at an early age. She was a proud graduate of University High School in Waco Texas. Shortly after graduating High School Darlene attended McLennan Community College earning her Bachelors in Business Management in spring of 1979. Darlene moved to Dallas, Tx in 1980 where she resided until her untimely death. On March 6, 1983 Darlene gave birth to her only son Kevin A. Bailey. Darlene enjoyed having family barbecues, but took pride in reading romance novels. Before her earthly journey ended on January 25th, 2016 at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Darlene was a member of Parkland’s Dietary Choir.
Her main occupational path included being employed by Parkland Memorial Hospital in the Nutrition Dietary Service Department under the management of Celia Krazit. Darlene would go on to remain a faithful worker for the next 26 years. February 6th, 2016 would have made 27 years at Parkland.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents Howard and Josephine Bailey, 1 brother Mike Bailey, 2 nephews Sean Williams, and Chase Kerley, 9 Uncles, 6 Aunts, and her Dallas native best-friend Felicia Sanders.
Left to cherish precious memories are her loving son, Kevin Bailey, 1 grandson Kenneth Bailey; 1 adopted daughter La’Vanda Bowman (Glen Heights, TX)1 adopted granddaughter Ja’Meecia Zachkery, 6 sisters: Mary Williams- Hamilton (Chicago IL), Cleopatra Kerley (Dallas, TX), Eunice Bailey (Dallas, TX), Marsha [Calvin] Greene (Waco, TX), Evelyn [Kevin] Mitchell (Waco, TX) and Valerie Bailey (Dallas, TX). 7 brothers: Charles [Doris] Williams (Dallas, TX), Elijah Williams (Waco, TX), Stanley [Elise] Bailey (Chicago, IL), Howard [Jackie] Greene(Houston, TX), Howard [Valerie] Majors, (Fairbanks, AL), Larry Greene, Waco, TX, and Vernon [Doris] Bailey, Austin, TX. 4 Aunts: Caroline Edwards (Calvert, TX), and Catherine Minnitt, (Waco, TX); Mary Nell Taylor (Bremond, TX), Laura Mae Bailey (Waco, TX) ; 6 Parkland sisters: Annette Lewis, Mable MCgensy, Kimberley Shelton, Patricia Robinson, Sandra Lewis, and Jackie Horsley of Dallas, TX; Waco native best-friend Denise Brown; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends
