Obituary of Johnnie James Johnnie Faye James was born on June 21, 1945, in Navarro County, Texas, to the late Bernice and Minnie Jackson. She was the second of five children. At an early age, she joined Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Rice, Texas. Johnnie Faye was united in holy matrimony to Claude James, Jr., and they moved from Rice, Texas, to Dallas, Texas. Upon moving to Dallas, Texas, she joined New Jerusalem Institutional Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member until her health failed. While continuing to show love to all her nieces and nephews, Johnnie Faye didn’t have any children of her own but raised Nicci Jackson and Yves Edwards as her own. She truly believed in family helping family! Johnnie Faye departed this life to abide with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at her home. She was 70 years old. She has one stepdaughter, Anita Faye, who preceded her in death along with her parents and Aunt Lola. She leaves to cherish her sweet memories, her husband, Claude James Jr.; one stepdaughter, Denise Michele; one sister, Darlene Jackson; three brothers, Bernie (Margaret) Jackson, Roy (Gail) Jackson, and Rickey Jackson; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, friends and relatives; and a devoted friend, Annie Hunter.
