Obituary of Eula Brown
Eula Mae Brooks Brown was a lady full of gratitude and thankfulness to the Lord for the grace and mercy shown throughout her life. She was born in Longview, Texas to the parentage of Ernest Brooks and Delsia Crow on July 15, 1922. She was the second of three children. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was baptized by Reverend J.B. Walker at the family church – Growing Valley Baptist Church in Longview Texas.
She received her formal education in Longview and graduated from Longview High. She furthered her education in the field of cosmetology, a graduate of Dickerson Beauty College in Fort Worth and Eastfield Junior College.
Her employment history includes several years as a Day Care worker and Hat Shaper at a local hat factory. However, she most enjoyed her duties as a homemaker.
In 1947, she made Dallas her home and Mount Moriah her church. Eula Mae Brooks and Willie Leon Brown were united in holy matrimony on December 24, 1953 by the late Rev. B.F. Briggs. They shared their Christian lives together until Mr. Brown’s death in 1993.
Through her many years of membership, this “Golden Member” was actively involved in the life of Mt. Moriah. She served in the Junior Missionary Society; secretary of the Senior Missionary Society; Vacation Bible School worker, member of Sunday School class #5 and was regular in attendance at Wednesday night Bible Study and Sunday services.
This warm hearted Christian lady demonstrated humility and deep concern for her community through her civic service. She was a member of the Cedar Crest Neighborhood Club; the Senior Access Group (a group in association with Methodist Hospital); and DAV auxiliary (the auxiliary of wives of veterans) of which she was a lifetime member.
She was preceded in death by her loving mother, Delsia Crow; father, Ernest Brooks; sister and brother in law, Thelma and Charlie Hoyt and brother and sister in law, Lemmie and Lois Brooks. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
