Obituary of Jennie Fields
Ms. Jennie Delores Fields was born on April 29, 1958 in Caddo Mills, Texas. She was the third child born to the parentage of Mr. George Wesley Fields (Tut) and Mrs. Zelma Ruth Ratcliff Fields.
Delores was preceded in death by both parents: her father on February 21, 1971, and her mother on September 5, 2015. She was also predeceased by four siblings: Mrs. Martha Lorene Fields Glenn in November 1985, Ms. Lue Jean Fields “Polly” in January 2008, Mr. James Wendell Fields in October 2008, and Mr. Henry Lee Fields in November 2014.
Ms. Delores Fields professed her beliefs in her Lord and Savior at an early age. After relocating to Dallas, Texas, she became a member of the True Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of
Rev. J.J. Adams (deceased).
Delores received her formal education in the Caddo Mills Elementary School, the McKinney School District and the Malakoff Independent School District. Delores worked as a Housekeeping Specialist at Southwestern Telephone Company and at C.C. Young Nursing Home. She later worked as an Environmental Technician/Supervisor of the Housekeeping Department of Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Texas. Delores was a loyal and dedicated employee there for over 25 years until her health began to decline.
On Sunday, October 4, 2015 at 5:55 pm, Delores quietly answered the Master’s call at her residence: 4611 Roberts Street in Dallas, Texas.
Those remaining to cherish Delores’ life and loving memories include her loving, caring and always attentive son, Mr. Samuel Curtis Fields, “Man-Man,” one granddaughter, Samirya Janae Fields; two brothers, Mr. Willie T. Fields, Sr. (Maeolá) of Denison, Texas, and Mr. James Howard Fields of Dallas, Texas; six sisters, Ms. Judy Ann Ratcliff of Center, Texas, Mrs. Lois Bell (Sam) and Ms. Glowilla G. Dean, “Glo,” both of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Venoya Lee Hall (Claudell Sr.) of Mexia, Texas, and Ms. Sarah Lee Fields, Ms. Carolyn Ruth Fields, both of Sherman, Texas; three aunts, Mrs. Genell Smith (N.H.) and Mrs. Vira Lee Poole, both of Wells, Texas, and Mrs. Zella Mae Davis (Johnny Ray) of Lufkin, Texas; five uncles, Mr. X.L. Ratcliff of Madison, Wisconsin, Mr. O.B. Ratcliff and Mr. L.A. Ratcliff, both of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Willie Ratcliff of Longview, Texas, and Mr. Samuel Fields, Jr., “Uncle Sammy,” of Marietta, Texas; one great-aunt, Mrs. Pauline McGuire of Atlanta, Texas; two very special cousins who were like sisters, Ms. Brenda D. Stephens and Mrs. Edna Ruth Fields (Teacie); eight nephews, Kinney Lee Fields, Sr., Jeremiah D. Glenn, Desmond D. Baker, Sr., Antonio A. Dean, Brandon H. Fields, Xadrian L. Davis, Joevel D. Fields and Willie T. Fields, Jr.; three nieces, LaKeisha S. Bell, Vernecia L. Fields and SaKidra R. Davis; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews, Keara, Asia, KeWun, MyKal, Jayla, SaMya, Zacobi, Kimberly-Za’Keia, Armani, Jovanny, Angel, Desmond Jr. and Kinney Lee Fields, Jr., the newest addition to the Fields family whom Delores never had the chance to meet prior to her passing. Delores also leaves behind a large number of cousins nationwide.
Special family/friends include: Ms. NaKeia Choice and her daughter, Za’Riah Morrison, Ms. Ivy Dale Nelson, Mr. Benny G. Smith, Jr., the Parker, Bell, Davis, Adams, Stephens, Ward, Maryman, Banks, Reed, Bethley, and Pegress families. Also, the entire staff and Delores’ coworkers at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Texas.
