Obituary of Martha Butler
On July 31, 2015, God called Sister Butler to her eternal rest.
Sister Butler was born November 28, 1924, to the parentage of Annie B. Holmes Kelly and Taylor Kelly. Sister Butler was the middle of six siblings born to this union.
She was educated in the Dallas Independent School District. Martha met and married Mr. Vernon Butler, Sr. in 1946, and to this union one son was born. She retired from Martin’s Laundry.
Sister Butler accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Rest B. C. In 1970, she united with the Griggs Chapel B. C. where she served on the Senior Usher Board until her health failed her. Sister Butler was a faithful servant and supporter of her church family until her death.
Sister Martha K. Butler is met beyond Heaven’s gates by her parents as well as all of her siblings.
Those remaining to cherish her loving memories include her son, Vernon Butler, Jr. (Janice) of Dallas; daughter, Vernell Johnson Turner (Rayfield); stepson, Robert Mims; grandchildren, Valerie Guyton (Tyrone), Jonathan Butler, George Bradley III, Kieth, Kim and Khristopher Johnson; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
