Obituary of Lonnie Cox
It was November 1, 1926, when Lonnie was born into the world. He was born in a farm in Milan County, Texas, to the parentage of Mark Cox and Rosie Burks-Cox.
Lonnie L. was the last born of twelve children.
Lonnie began school in Milan County and went through the Dallas Public School at N.W. Hurlee when the family moved to Dallas, Texas.
Lonnie joined the United States Army in 1945 during World War II and was later honorably discharged as a sergeant.
Lonnie married Mae Evelyn and of this union four children were born: Ronald L., Lonnie, L. Jr., Roslyn, and Felicia.
Lonnie L. later married Maxine Hill and the two had four children together: Sheila, Michael, Gerald, Romona and Brenda, who he loved dearly.
Lonnie worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. Later in life he was a self-employed carpenter and plumber.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; children, Roslyn, Ronnie, Lonnie L., Jr., and Brenda Joyce.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Maxine; sons, Michael (Velma) Cox, Gerald (Pearl) Cox; daughters, Sheila (Bobby) Floyd, Felicia Prince, Karen Cox, and Romona Cox; ten grandchildren; one close cousin, Jim Staten; and a host of other relatives and friends.
