Obituary of Derick Dwayne Chalmers

Obituary of Derick Chalmers Derick Dwayne Chalmers was born October 25, 1970 to the parentage of Billy Arnold and Bobbie Jewel (Branch) Chalmers. He was called to be with the Lord on Saturday November 22, 2014 at 44 years old. Derick accepted Christ at an early age at The New Jerusalem Institutional Baptist Church under the pastoral ship of Reverend O.E. Piper. There he served in various capacities of the youth ministry. Derick was a 1989 graduate of Business and Management Center High School in Dallas, Texas. After graduation, he enlisted in The United States Air Force Reserve and called to active duty. Derick later attended The University of Houston and Stephen F. Austin State University. His most recent career was with U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Derick married his childhood sweetheart, Kasandra Smith, of 19 years and from this union were blessed with son, Drake and daughter, Kaley. Their family worshiped the Lord at Concord Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. E.K. Bailey. Derick continued his spiritual growth serving in several church auxiliaries. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Chalmers. Derick leaves a loving legacy and cherished memories with his dedicated and loving wife, Kasandra L. Chalmers, children Drake A. Chalmers and Kaley M. Chalmers; loving mother Bobbie B. Chalmers, siblings Kenneth (Andrea) Chalmers and Tunesia N. Chalmers; Father-n-law Mr. Bobby Wayne Smith, mother-n-law Ms. Allean Smith, and brother-n-law Mr. Keith Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and close friends.
