Obituary of Andrew C Rodgers

Andrew Calvin Rodgers was born on the 8th of November, 1947 to the parentage of S.T. and Earnestine Rose Rodgers in Linden, Texas. He along with his family moved to Houston, Texas at a very young age , were he received his formal education in the Harris county public schools and attending Wheatley High School. While a senior at Wheatley High School he was drafted into the United States Army where he served his country honorably during Vietnam. Upon returning home from the service in 1969 Andrew united in Holy Matrimony and to this union two children were born. Andrew along with his family lived in Conroe, Texas for 16years and later they moved to Dallas, Texas where he remained for 30 years. Andrew was a truck driver for Pier One Imports for 33 years and retired after 5plus years of service from Timco Transport. He accepted Christ at an early age. As young adults Andrew and Bertha were baptized together at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas. Later they joined the St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas where he was ordained as a Minister under the leadership of the late Marlon Mitchell. Andrew joined New Legacy Community Church, DeSoto, Texas under the leadership of Pastor Bob Davis were they loved and he served faithfully as Sunday School Teacher and Minister. He loved fishing, bowling and just spending time with his family. His smile was filled with passion and vibrancy. Those who were close to Andrew were touched by his loving spirit and thoughtfulness. Our heavenly Father released Andrew on Monday, July 9, 2018; He is preceded in death by his mother, father, and siblings, Annice Davis, Joyce Rodgers and Arthur Noble. The celebration of his life and legacy continues with his wife of 49 years, Bertha Rodgers, loving daughter, Lashond Rodgers-Hall, son, Diamond Rodgers (Mercedes), 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, siblings, Jacqueline Davis, Linden, Texas, Alvin Rodgers, Houston, Texas and Michael Noble , Magnolia, Texas a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
