Obituary of Zannell Jones Zannell Duncan Jones was born May 29, 1928 in Wortham, Texas to the parentage of Harrison Mitchell Morgan and Permiller Wigfall Morgan, both of Wortham Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the auspices of Rev. E.O. Sweet; Pastor of St. James Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas. A part of her spirit was forever entwined in the Butler College and St. James Community. She loved the kindness and realness of the people. Zannell attended W.A. Pete Elementary School, and attended high school at Emmett Scott, finishing her last year of high school at Wendell Phillips in Chicago, Illinois. She later attended Butler College for 2 years. Zannell was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert Duncan Sr. on August 20, 1945. To this union 3 children were born. She later married Mr. Green Jones and to this union one son was born. Her professional career included the U.S. Postal Service where she retired after 23years of service in Chicago, Illinois. She was well recognized by her peers for the outstanding Oratorical ability, being a preferred speaker on many occasions. After retirement she relocated in Dallas, Texas, where she became a member of Smith Chapel A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Daryl Caldwell. Zannell had a zest for life and a personality filled with passion and vibrancy. Those who were close to Minnie were touched by her loving spirit and thoughtfulness. Her loving smile brought so much joy to everyone. Her loving kindness reminds us of the preciousness of life. Her memorable life will forever live on in the hearts of her loved ones. Zannell departed this life on June 14, 2014; She is preceded in death by her parents husband Green Jones, one son Robert Duncan Jr., her parents Harrison Morgan and Permiller Morgan McDonald; two sisters Mary Collins and Ruby Wright. She leaves to cherish her memories: Two loving daughters: Vivian E. Beachum of Dallas, Texas, Angel Warren of Chicago, Illinois, son; Jerry Jones (Jackie) of Chicago, Illinois. Ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. She will certainly be missed by her family and everyone that loved her.
