Obituary of Burnis McFarland The Life… Burnis Frank McFarland III, son of Burnis and Jackie Bailey McFarland was born in Dallas, Texas on February 21, 1970. Burnis passed away at Presbyterian Hospital, Dallas, Texas. He is now victorious of illness as he has received the ultimate healing. He attended Greater Harvest Church of God in Christ and was baptized under the pastorate of Bishop F. W. Smith. After leaving Greater Harvest in 1984, he and family united with St. Luke Community United Methodist Church under the pastorate of Dr. Zan Holmes. He attended B. F. Darrell and Maynard Jackson Elementary Schools, W. H. Atwell Middle School and Skyline High School. While in elementary he was enrolled in the after school program at Moorland Y. M. C. A, there he learned to play basketball under the coaching of Willie Summerling. He would later excel in academics and basketball at Skyline High and earn an athletic scholarship to Arkansas State University, eventually transferring to University of North Texas. Burnis received great joy from all genres of music and loved creating beats on his keyboard. Burnis enjoyed working with people and received the greatest satisfaction from helping others. This passion was fulfilled as a car salesman and his work as a service representative with the Social Security Administration. He was preceded in death by his beloved "Nana" (grandmother) Ernestine Lois Walker in January, 2001, father Burnis Frank McFarland, Jr. in July, 2008 and grandfather Burnis Frank McFarland March, 2014. Burnis leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate his life: mother, Jackie Bailey McFarland; sister, Jacki Diana McFarland; grandmother Patsy Grant; uncle, Johnny D. Walker Jr. (Lynn); cousin, Chandler M. Walker and aunt, Teri Lynn Gibson (Robert), and a host of other relatives and friends.
