Obituary of Kathryn Williams Kathryn Marie Matthis was born at home on Howell Street in Dallas, Texas on October 15, 1932, to Cecil Ann Wiley Matthis and Robert D. Matthis. Kathryn Marie was the 2nd born girl of this union. Kathryn received her education in Dallas, Texas at Booker T. Washington High School. Upon graduation she attended business school and received her secretarial certification. She was courted by and married her high school sweetheart, R.D. Williams on December 8, 1951. Raymond and Kathryn enjoyed 61 years of marriage, producing two daughters, Kathy Ann and Ramona Diane. Kathryn's enduring love for family, friends and of Christ, allowed her to example to others a full and impactful life. Her marriage was a true testament of God's unconditional love for all to see. All that she participated in was driven by a spirit of excellence and she never settled for less. Kathryn received Christ at an early age at Boll Street Christian Church, which is now the present day, Warren Avenue Christian Church, and has served faithfully as past Christian Women's Fellowship President and Treasurer; Youth Sponsor; many dedicated years as Church Secretary. Also, served as Moderator of the North Texas Area Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Board member of the Juliette Fowler Homes Kathryn had also been an active member of the Booker T. Washington High School Alumni Association, member of the DAV Oak Cliff 32nd, Fruitdale Neighborhood Association, Dallas County Democratic Party and Election Judge. Faithful and active member of Church Women United. Kathryn's love and life are celebrated by her daughters, Kathy (Derrick Glynn) and Ramona (Victor Jackson, I); grandchildren, Fredderrick Eugene Viser, Victor Bashon Jackson, II, Valencia Cecil (Donald Langley), Derrian Vaughn Glynn, and Vashelle Dionne Jackson; and a great-grandson, Dominic Raymond Kwiaju Langley; sisters, Cecilia Hayes, Jerelyn (DeFarris Gooden), and Marlene Teal, also sister-in-law, Eunice B. Matthis; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, grand nephews, grand nieces and great grand nephews and great grand nieces; and a wealth of friends and extended family.
