Obituary of Maurice Jones

Obituary of Maurice Jones Mr. Maurice Jones Sr. was born May 21, 1930 in Longview, Texas to the parentage of Clem and Annie Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from Shiloh High School in 1947 and enrolled at Texas College in Tyler, TX. There he met and married Betty Jean Williams in 1948. To this union, 3 children were born. Mr. Jones served his country during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. Upon his discharge, he returned to Texas College, completing his degree in 1956. He began a career in teaching, first with the Dawson School District, (1956-60) the Gladewater School District, (1960-68) and finally, the Dallas Independent School District, (1968-86). He furthered his Education, attending seminars at Texas Southern University in 1963 and at Prairie View A&M University in 1965. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Mrs. Betty Jean Jones, his parents, 3 sisters and 6 brothers. Mr. Jones departed this life on September 13, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. He leaves to cherish his memory, 1 daughter, Ms. Monica Jones, 2 sons, Mr. Rory Jones (Shelia) and Mr. Maurice Jones Jr. (Shelia), 2 sisters, Mrs. Florence Beverly of Compton, CA., and Mrs. Peggy Barnes (Harold) of Cerritos, CA., 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and special friend, Mrs. Juanita Washington.
