Obituary of Willie Chambers Britt Willie Pearl Chambers Britt passed from earth to glory on Monday, April 8, 2013. She was born on June 3, 1924 to the parentage of the late Miller and Durinda Amboree Chambers in Dallas, Texas. Three brothers; Alvonzo Hutinson, Miller Chambers and Herbert L. Chambers proceeded her in death. Willie Pearl received her public education at B.F. Darrell Elementary and Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, TX. She earned a bachelor's Degree from Prairie View A&M College, Hempstead, TX. Later her post graduate degree was received from East Texas State University, Commerce, and TX. Being raised in a God fearing home, she accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she remained as a lifetime member. During her active years at St. John she was a Sunday School Church worker, hospitality Committee member, served with various other committees and ministries. Sister Britt was a faithful contributor to the Branch Roland Scholarship, Bethlehem Foundation and the Prison Ministry. Most recently, before her health failed, she loved to attend the Jo Anna Williams Sunday School Class. Willie Pearl met and married Sammie "Doc" Britt in 1951 in Dallas, TX to this union two sons were born; Dr. Cedric Deon Britt and Samuel Chambers Britt. Willie Pearl and Sammie Britt enjoyed 36 years of marital bliss until his passing in January, 1990. After her retirement, she traveled throughout the United States. She was most proud and enjoyed giving of her time to the community as she volunteered for many years at Baylor Medical Center and at The CAW Clark Social Services Center at Good Street Baptist Church. Willie Pearl was employed with the Dallas independent School District retiring after 40 years of classroom instructing. Her teaching career began with Anderson Bonner Elementary School and thirty-six years of service at Albert Sidney Johnston Elementary School. Those in heaven awaiting her arrival are her son, Dr. Cedric D. Britt Sr. and her grandson, Cedric "Seggy" Britt. Other family members celebrate and perpetuate her life and cherish many memories are ; Son, Samuel C. Britt of Desoto,TX, Grandaughter, Karen A. Britt of Fort Worth, Daughter in -Law, Joyce Britt of Fort Worth.
