Obituary of Clifford Cole
Mr. Clifford Duane Cole better known as 'Toodie' by those who knew and loved him started on his path November 29, 1950 in Dallas, Texas.
Clifford was born to the parentage of the late James C. Cole and Jo O. Williams.
Clifford completed his earthly journey on January 19, 2013. He came to know Jesus at an early age while attending Munger Avenue Baptist Church kindergarten. He attended J. W. Ray, B. F. Darrell, and K.B. Polk Elementary Schools where he excelled.
He then went on to Booker T. Washington High School-Dallas, Texas where he participated on the Football, Baseball and swimming teams. He continued his education at Prairie View A&M University where he studied Chemistry. He gave back to the community by coaching little league football where he mentored many young men. Clifford was one of the founding members of the first all black flag football team in Dallas called The Mothership connection in 1973. He was one of the founding members of the Dallas Predator Flag football team in 1985; his accomplishments: City Champs Class 1988, 1989, 1991; State Class A 1988, 1989, 1990 National Champs 3rd 1991, 1st.-1989, 1990.
Clifford was an avid fisherman and help organize The Keepin It Reel Fishing Club in January 1994, getting involved in Kid Fish the 1st Saturday June in 2012. He was a supporting member of the Booker T. Washington Class of 1969 reunion committee. He was employed with Sun Chemical Corporation where he received 15 year recognition in 2008 and was to retire with 20 years of service as an Ink Specialist.
His smile was infectious and his personality filled with passion and vibrancy. Those who were close to "TOODIE" were touched by his loving spirit and thoughtfulness. Knowing him helped you understand that it is the quality of one's existence that far exceeds the quantity of time lived. His loving smile brought so much joy to everyone. His loving kindness reminded us of the preciousness of life. Clifford's memorable life will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Clifford leaves to cherish his life and legacy his loving and devoted wife Vickie Johnson Cole, mother, Jo Ollie Williams, three children, Christy L. Byrd of Arlington, Texas; Terrance Cole (Lashelbia) of Cedar Hill, Texas and Jarek Cole of DeSoto, Texas, two stepchildren, Stephen Canyon West of Dallas, Texas and Cedric Johnson of Rowlett, Texas, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren; sister, Yatice May, brothers , Donald Cole and Robert V. Cole III , aunt, Juanita May , uncle, Waymon Williams a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He also was a father figure to Jaylon Cole and Angel Wright.
