Obituary of Mary Rolen Mary Dorsey Rolen was born Shirley Kelly to the late James and Viola Kelly on March 25, 1937 in New Iberia, Louisiana. As an infant she was adopted by the late Dr. Eddie L. & Helen B. Dorsey. She departed this life on December 17, 2012. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a longtime member of Johnson Chapel Community Church in Desoto, TX. She was educated at Palmer Institute High School in Burlington, North Carolina and Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee where she studied Music. Mary met and married Bennie Y. Rolen. This union would span 55 years and together they raised 5 children. She worked for the United States Postal Service for many years and later pursued a nursing career. She worked diligently in this field and retired while working as a nurse at the Dallas County Sheriff's Department. Mary is preceded in death by her biological parents James & Viola Kelly and her adoptive parents Dr. Eddie L. & Helen B. Dorsey. Four (4) sisters: Helen Barbara Hassan, Bernice Riggins, Emmarite Everage and Dr. Viola Coleman and brother Dr. Eugene Dorsey. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and caring spouse, Bennie Rolen of Dallas. Three daughters, Rebecca Dorsey Hardy, Cheryl Rolen and Monica Rolen-Powell (Rodney). Two sons; Anthony Rolen (Veronica) and Christopher Rolen (Jackie) and a special Goddaughter Yvette Horton. 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. 1 sister, Helen Allen and 3 brothers James Kelly, Alvin Kelly and Handy Kelly and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
