Obituary of Thomas Henry A loving husband, father and grandfather, Thomas Waymon Henry was the third child born to Gillie M. Martin and Delbert V. Henry, Sr. in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His parents, sister Glen Doris and youngest brother Don G. Henry, Sr. preceded him in death. He accepted Christ at an early age and joined the East Sixth Street Christian Church, Oklahoma City. A life-long member of The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), he fully participated in church life until his health declined in recent years. A charter member of the Wildewood Christian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he received the distinct honor as the first Chairman of the Board and also served as an elder and choir member. He served many times as a delegate to the National Convocation of the Christian Church. Upon moving to Dallas, Texas, Thomas and his family united with the Denley Drive Christian Church, Oak Cliff Bible Christian Church and recently became a member of the Northway Christian Church. He diligently served the church in various capacities throughout the years, including chairman of the board, elder, choir member and chaired major church committees. He volunteered in support of the North Texas Area of the Christian Church, Southwest Area. Educated in the Oklahoma City Public Schools, Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Central State University, Edmond Oklahoma. He married Goldia M. Sanders and to this union two children were born. Initially, he taught English at a private high school. Thomas was employed by the United States Post Office and in 1965 began a career with the Internal Revenue Service as a Tax Auditor. In 1970, he was promoted to a Special Agent for the Department of the Treasury. He advanced to the position of Group Manager for the IRS Criminal Investigation Division after a series of increasingly responsible assignments in the Oklahoma City District Office. In 1979, he accepted a promotion as Group Manager of the Southwest District and moved to Dallas, Texas with his wife Goldia. Following early retirement from the Federal Government in 1989, he obtained a real estate license and received recognition as top sales producer. He later established and operated Star Five Realty along with four other owners. He worked as a professional Real Estate Consultant until his retirement in 2007. Thomas was an avid golfer and loved to play golf wherever he and Goldia traveled. He was a former member of the ProDuffers and the Dunbar Social Club. He was also a former member of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas and Jurisdictions and a Veteran of World War Two. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Goldia M. Henry; son, Alfred L. Henry (Karen); daughter, Donnetta A. Henry; grandson, Stephen L. Henry; brother, Delbert V. Henry, Jr. (Marcellett); sister-in-law, Callie Henry; godchildren, Lydia Simms-Cudjoe and Matthew Simms; seven nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and a host of extended family members and friends.
