Please share a memory of Marva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marva was a product of the Dallas Independent Schools, graduating from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in 1976. Marva attended Mountain View Community College, El Centro Community College, Argosy University and Ashford University. Marva was employed for 30 plus years in the Banking industry. Some of her employment includes, Chase Bank, Texas Capitol, and Title Max. Marva met and married Don Whitlow on July 25, 1998. Together they enjoyed hours of shopping fun as they built their wardrobe of fine clothes. She was a connoisseur of fashion, food and music. As a “Fashionista”, Marva kept up-to-date on the latest shoes, jewelry, and clothes; always making sure she and her husband were dressed for any red carpet. Marva had a passion for style in clothes and decorating. She was a decorator for personal friends’ weddings, banquets, dinners, parties and all types of wonderful affairs, especially at her church. She loved decorating for the holidays: Christmas, New Year’s, Easter, and Mother’s Day, just to name a few. Marva accepted Christ at an early age and began her Christian journey early in life at New Jerusalem Baptist Church. She, with her mother, moved their membership to Cedar Crest CME Cathedral. Marva, Don and Mrs. Dunn were a part of the founding families of First Christian Methodist Evangelistic Church under the leadership of Rev. Gene E. Burk and later helped to establish New Light Bible Fellowship Church, under the guidance of Bishop D. Eric Tate Martin (ABD). Marva was a faithful member of New Light Bible Fellowship Church, serving as the servant leader for the Ushers and Greeters Ministry. She was active until her untimely passing. Marva enjoyed a good laugh and spending time with good friends. Her love of traveling took her from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between, as well as abroad. Marva joins a large cloud of witnesses that include: her parents, father Maurice C. Dunn, mother Oreatta S. Dunn; sisters, Carol Dunn Stewart and Geraldine Dunn Evans. Marva’s beautiful life will be forever cherished by her husband Don Whitlow; children, Lateef Lusk (Daphne) of DeSoto, Ebony Lusk of The Colony, and Aaron Whitlow of Dallas; brother, Carl M. Dunn (Barbara) of Forestville, Maryland; sister-in-law Cheryl Whitlow-Rhodes of Waxahachie and Janice Whitlow of Dallas; brother-in-law, Robert J. Whitlow of Dallas; grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, god-children, and friends, and her beloved cat, Mark.
