Obituary
Obituary of Raymond Alexander Dennis
Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rev. Raymond Alexander Dennis, son of the late Milton S. Dennis and Naomi A. Dennis was born May 18, 1941 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and gained his heavenly wings March 31, 2019.
Raymond attended school in the Pittsburgh Public School System, graduating from Westinghouse High School. Raymond proudly served his country by enlisting in the Army in 1959. He was honorably discharged in 1962.
Raymond met and united in holy matrimony with Mary Kathryn Russell (Kathy) in 1963 and lived a joyous and fruitful life together for 55 years. Raymond and Kathy made their home in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area prior to moving to Texas, their forever home. Raymond was a dedicated member of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church and loved every member. He was also a dedicated member of Prudence Lodge 27, where he served as Worshipful Master in 1974.
Raymond’s greatest loves were God and his family. He was a natural teacher who encouraged everyone to open up a book and learn something (affectionately saying “go look it up”). He never met a stranger and welcomed everyone with open arms.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Irma Lashley, Richard Dennis and William Dennis.
Raymond leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife, Mary Kathryn Dennis; five children, Kenneth W. Stewart (Elora), Raymond A. Dennis, Karmin M. Dennis, Dion J. Dennis and Aphrihl-Rai Dennis-Barrie (Michael); 2 sisters, Jaqueline Patterson and Robin Dennis; neice (like a daughter), Saran A. Lashley; grandchildren, Raymond, Kenisha, Raylin, Kendall, Tasia, Tori, Diona, Alexandria, Khylan, Terray, Rayshon, Kaila, and Michael; great grandchildren, Malachi, Gabriel, E’lana and Rajai, and a host of neices, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
