Obituary of Edie Roberson Edie Yvonne Roberson was born to the union of Henry and Carrie Brown in Fayette, Mississippi on February 16, 1940. She was the youngest and last surviving of five children. Edie accepted Christ into her life and was baptized on December 24, 1967. She graduated from Liddell High School In 1958. She attended Alcorn University for a year before she married Walter Woods Jr. and moved to Chicago IL. From this marriage, three children were born. After the dissolution of this marriage, Edie relocated to Michigan where she met and married Roy Roberson. Edie and Roy moved to the state of Texas in 1986 where they then settled in Desoto. Edie was widowed in 2004. Edie retired from the United States Postal Service where she served diligently as a Transportation Management Supervisor. Edie also worked faithfully in her church home, St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, serving on Deaconess Board B, The Iris Garden Club, and several other ministries. She was also involved in various organizations to include the NAACP, the Nation League of Colored Women, the Women of Courage, and several others. She also dedicated her life to helping mentor and foster the dreams of several children and young adults. She is survived by three children, a son, Christopher Woods, and two daughters, Tonya McMillian and Kimberly Seldon, nine grand children, and 3 great grand children. Edie Y. Roberson was truly loved and will be greatly missed by all of those whose lives she touched. Her Lord called her from this life on January 14, 2011. May she rest in peace.
